What do I want?

Why is it difficult for you to understand?
I remember not of demanding the mountains to be moved
or wanting the moon and stars
Never did I also wish for your 24X7
All I want is;
Only two minutes of you –
smiling while talking to me
being silly with me
laughing listening to me.
Only two minutes of you –
thinking of me
imagining me.
Only two minutes of you –
being you with me.
Only two minutes of you!

What do I want

Glitters, Unicorns and a little Pink!

Glitter Unicorn pink

This is the day she dreamt for years
Now taking the vows she lost all her fears
You are mine and I am yours
He blinked and she shyly smiled
Reviving all her dreams wild

She was six
Playing being a bride with her friends
Mommy teasingly asked her, “What is it that you want?”
Without a hesitation she answers
“Glitters, Unicorns and a little pink.”

She was caring, compassionate and loving as her favourite color
Her mere presence added glitters to monotonous routine
So pure, so beautiful and so bright
Yet not visible to every eye
You need to be special to sight the unicorn

Little did she know then
Life is not a dream
You don’t always get what you want.
Society judges you, daunts you
And moulds you to be their toy.

She was soft and sensitive
Nevertheless tough and determined
Scared yet unswervable, there she was
Fighting against the odds
Braving outright rejections

A tear rolling down her cheeks
falls into his hands holding hers
He silently tightens the clasp as she travels back from time
Another blink assuring he is here to stay, she smiles back
For she knows, she has found her ‘Glitters, Unicorns and a little Pink.’

The Rose Bud

On one fine dewy dawn, with your hood on
Hushing and hiding you knocked my door
Searching for the perfect gift for your valentine
You had reasons to celebrate
exactly a year ago, your friendship turned into love
I was a few days old, a foliage turned into a bud
Your love & I, at the similar stage in life
Blessed, Happy & Optimistic

I remember when you offered me to her, she blushed
Do you remember how her cheeks matched my color?

As the days passed by
Your love started fading
And so did I!

This misty morning, she sees me old and withered
She tells me how she loved you with all her heart
But maybe, things were meant to fall apart
Maybe you two were meant only to be called friends
Maybe I was meant to bloom and stay on the plant

It is now too late to go back
Your love & I, at the similar stage in life, yet again
Old, forgotten and a thing of the past.

Be Like The Chinar

There certainly are two types of Katrina Kaif fans in India, the ones who believe that she is gorgeous, the most versatile female actor in the industry today, and the others who find her extremely boring and repetitive. I would avoid categorizing myself here but the trailer and songs in ‘Fitoor’ has left me in awe of her.
Do I need to mention her fab toned bod in the song ‘Pashmina’? Or those long dreamy red hair? Director Abhishek Kappor says that the red hair in the movie is a metaphor or a tribute to the red autumn leaves of Chinar tree. Since ages poets have sung praises of the gigantic and the majestic Chinar.
Inspired by Katrina’s red hair in the movie ‘Fitoor’, here is my attempt to pay an ode to the mighty Chinar.

Standing tall amidst all
it’s been ages and I have seen every rise and fall
From the emperors invading to the partition
the blood shed thereafter and the numerous peace missions
Change is inevitable, they say
in accordance I sway

Chinar tree

Cometh the spring – I am young and green
set to fight the circumstances unforeseen
In the summer heat my leaves become yellow
it’s now that I am cool breezy and mellow
Turning crimson with the set of autumn
my leaves are dying, prepared to hit the rock bottom
Fall spreads a golden carpet of which I am proud
the crispy carpet cushion takes you to walk in the clouds
I am standing naked braving the winter storm
happy that burning my fiery red leaves makes you warm
Expect nothing in return, love all is what I abide by
Mammal or an animal, man or a woman, Kashmiri Pandit or a Muslim, soldier or a spy
When will you understand life is not about snaring and tearing?
it’s all about loving, caring and sharing
Come what may – Life goes on
Here I am, still standing tall amidst all.

That One Love

Spoke without thinking;
Read without imagining;
Listened without curiosity.
Your absence left in a void
so hard for anyone to fill.
Ailed without any miseries;
Stoned without getting high;
Deceased without dying.
The dark night never seemed to end.
I was hurt; I was broken
not knowing how to pave my path back to you,
I missed you!

Those were the days when
You brought me joy in solitude.
You challenged me to be at my best, every single time!
and gave me the strength to face the world
Practice what you preach, I learnt being with you.
My fondness for you only multiplied with time
I was a changed person,
changed only for the good.
I missed you!

Dark clouds have parted their ways,
Sun is out shining bright.
Now that we are together,
I look forward to discovering myself once again.
I am making no promises,
for they say promises are made to be broken.
I am meant to be doing this,
for the pleasure and satisfaction you give.
A pen, a piece of paper,
at times the keypads
Scribbling lines here and there.
I missed you, missed writing my heart out.
You will always be my
That One Love!
